Sheriff named SPC Graduate of the Year

Published/Last Modified on Friday, November 16, 2007 2:00 PM CST

Sheriff Willie J. Martin Jr. was chosen as the St. Peter Chanel 2007-2008 Graduate of the Year for the Diocese of Baton Rouge. Sheriff Martin was chosen for his strong character as illustrated by his actions within family, school, parish and community.

Willy's strength as a leader in the community has been tested and proven as he serves St. James Parish for his fifth term as sheriff. Willy's support to his parents and siblings has made a tremendous difference to his family. His sense of responsibility to the youth of our parish has been evidenced in his funding of the DARE Program, which educates our future adults as to the importance of remaining drug-free.

SPC salutes Sheriff Martin and his support of Catholic education in our parish.
