HAHNVILLE - St. Charles Parish has received a grant of $289,903.89 to continue with preparation of first responders in matters concerning Homeland Security.
Major General Bennett C. Landreneau, the Director of the La. Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness notified Parish President Albert Laque of the award. Landreneau observed that it is a 100 percent Federal grant and does not require any match from the parish.

"We live in a different world today and we must be prepared to deal with events that would have been unimaginable prior to September 11, 2001."
"It requires a great level of cooperation and coordination between various agencies for the parish to receive these grants," stated Laque.
"My office, our Office of Emergency Preparedness and Sheriff Greg Champagne's office work closely together to ensure that we spend these funds appropriately and wisely."
In addition to equipment, funding can be used for training, exercises and planning.
