Thirty-seven years of work in helping people and their families overcome addictions was celebrated this month as Get High on Life held its annual Spring banquet.

Community members and elected officials gathered to celebrate the organization, which was founded by Harold Keller in 1980 in response to an increasing drug problem in the River Parishes.

Among the speakers was Wilbur Butts, who operates a Florida treatment facility and often works in conjunction with Keller.

“That man is radical,” Butts said of Keller. “I’m blessed to be associated with this ministry.”
