Knights Of Columbus awards scholarships to local students

LAPLACE — Courtney Caldarera and Christopher Bergeron have been chosen CYLA Scholarship winners.

The deserving recipients were recently presented with a plaque and check at the Knights Of Columbus 9623 general membership meeting and go on to represent the council in the state competition.

“The Knights of Columbus truly cares about the Catholic values these two young people possess,” a release from the Knights said. “We are aware these outstanding students have already made great contributions to their communities, as well as to their church parishes and their schools.

“This recognition will encourage these outstanding students to forever hold true to their Catholic values and embrace the leadership roles they will be asked to fulfill.”

Caldarera is a senior at Mount Carmel High School. She plans to attend LSU in the fall, majoring in kinesiology.

Bergeron is a senior at St. Charles Catholic High School. He plans to attend ULL in the fall, majoring in English.
