A release from Sheriff Greg Champagne’s office said Dave Anthony Turner forced his way into the residence of a former acquaintance at approximately 9:30 a.m. Monday.

“Once inside the residence, Turner allegedly raped the victim and strangled her, causing the victim to black out,” the release said. “Turner then forced the victim into a vehicle and proceeded to drive on I-10 towards New Orleans. After a physical altercation in the vehicle, Turner allegedly pushed the victim out of the vehicle as they were traveling on I-10.”

Emergency Medical Services picked up the victim and brought her to a local hospital, where she suffered an open fractured ankle, which required surgery. The victim also suffered several abrasions and lacerations throughout her body, Champagne said.

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for Turner for attempted first degree murder, first degree rape and second degree kidnapping.

With the assistance of the U.S. Marshalls Service, Turner was arrested at his New Orleans residence without incident. He is being held at Orleans Parish Prison on charges for New Orleans, then will be transported to the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center for the local charges.
