LAPLACE — A local man confronted a burglar Thursday that forced his way into his home.

St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office responded to the 400 block of State Street in LaPlace at 12:37 p.m. Thursday after a caller reported a man entered the home through a window.

The 29-year-old male victim told deputies he was lying in bed with his 2-year-old daughter when a man entered the residence.

Sgt. Dane Clement said the suspect broke through a window, but the location of the widow is not being disclosed because of investigative reasons.

Authorities said when the perpetrator saw the victim, he exited through the front door and fled south on foot.

“The only description we have is what the victim gave us,” Clement said.

The victim described the perpetrator to deputies as male and wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and black pants. There was also something red visible below his sweatshirt.
