Destrehan 33 — Slidell 23

The Destrehan Wildcats (1-0) found a much tougher opponent in Slidell High School (0-1), which hosted the game, than was anticipated.

While Destrehan, which is coming off of an appearance in last year’s 5A state championship, came out to a 26-7 lead, Slidell was able to fight its way back to narrow the score 26-23 before the Wildcats scored the final touchdown of the game to make the score 33-23 and take home the win.

Hahnville 24 — Woodlawn 14

The Hahnville Tigers (1-0) saw their new offense in action for the first time on the road against Woodlawn (0-1) this week.

Despite rolling up over 300 yards on offense, the Tigers fumbled four times and going into the fourth quarter were trailing 14-10. However, Hahnville head coach Nick Saltaformaggio’s players were able to get it together and put up two touchdowns in the last six minutes of the game to take home the win 24-14.

Lutcher 20 — Dutchtown 19

The Lutcher Bulldgos (1-0) had their hands full with Dutchtown (0-1).

The Bulldogs found themselves down 12-0 at halftime, but were able to come back in the second half to secure the victory 20-19.
