Although Hurricane Danny did not pose a threat to Louisiana, residents are encouraged to review hurricane preparedness plans.

The St. John Parish Emergency Operations and Communications staff are reviewing emergency response procedures, gathering emergency resources and preparing roads, drainage and infrastructure for a possible tropical weather event.

Due to the recent fire at East St. John Elementary, emergency responders made changes to the Point-to-Point evacuation plans. Should a mandatory evacuation be issued, the new evacuation registration site will be Emily C. Watkins Elementary School, located at 938 Highway 628 in LaPlace.

Those without transportation can be picked up at St. John the Baptist Church in Edgard or St. Peter Church in Reserve to be transported to Emily C. Watkins Elementary School for registration and transportation.
