RESERVE — East St. John Elementary School students will return to school Monday at the Leon Godchaux campus in Reserve.

Staff members report to work Friday. Both have been out of school since a fire at the elementary school Aug. 14.

“We are ready to be back in school and we are ready to have our Bobcat family back together,” Principal Stacy Bradford said.

The school day for East St. John Elementary School students will be from 7:30 a.m. to 2:48 p.m. for the remainder of the year, an extension of the school day by 18 minutes to make up for seven days lost since the fire.

Parents are asked to have their children at the bus stop 20 minutes earlier than usual to ensure they are there when the bus arrives.

An additional four days will be made up by East St. John Elementary School students and Lake Pontchartrain Elementary School students by attendance during staff professional development days when they were originally scheduled to be out of school.

Those days are Sept. 21, Nov. 2, Jan. 4 and Feb. 22.
