LAPLACE — A man wounded from a gunshot blow to the leg refused to work with local authorities, stunting a shooting investigation that began Saturday evening.

As of Tuesday morning at press time, Sgt. Dane Clement said authorities have not received any assistance from the suspected gunshot victim.

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre said deputies first responded to a residence in the 200 block of Riverlands Drive in LaPlace following a gunshot report at 4:57 p.m. Saturday.

Less than 10 minutes later, a deputy responded to Ochsner Medical Complex-River Parishes to speak with a 28-year-old man, who walked in the emergency room with a gunshot wound to his lower left leg, Tregre said via release.

“His current condition is unknown,” Tregre said. “The victim at the hospital refused to cooperate with investigators.”

Deputies found blood evidence at the Riverlands Drive residence indicating someone was possibly shot at the location.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is encouraged to call the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office TIPS line at 985-359-TIPS or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.

Those with information do not have to testify in court and may qualify for a cash reward. Residents can also submit tips on the Sheriff’s Office website at stjohnsheriff.org/submitatip.php.
