LAPLACE — Marvin “Butch” Perrilloux announced he is seeking re-election as Councilman for District IV in St. John the Baptist Parish.

Perrilloux said it has been exciting, as well as a privilege, to serve as Councilman for District IV.

“To the residents of St. John Parish, I thank you for trusting in me to serve you as your public servant, I am forever grateful,” Perrilloux said. “We have endured many difficulties and setbacks that have made us stronger and wiser. Hurricane Isaac flood water hit our parish and we suffered a tremendous loss, but we, you and I, fought to bring life back to our community, especially District IV.”

Perrilloux said District IV is on the move, adding the Foxwood levee project, which is in progress, will protect Foxwood Subdivision, Sugar Ridge Subdivision, New Era Subdivision and The Grove Subdivision.

Also, at 95 percent completion, the Haydel Canal crossing (LaPlace Park Levee) is in the final stages, Perrilloux said. The announcement for the West Shore Lake Pontchartrain levee project (master levee,) which Congress now has to fund, is on its way.

“As your Councilman for District IV, with other council members, we went to Washington D.C. in numbers to fight for the residents on why the master levee project is so important,” Perrilloux said. “The bond, approved by the voters, has enabled the improvements for the parks that all residents can be proud and we will continue to do so.

“I ask you now to allow me to continue with the progress as your Council member of District IV, re-elect me to the St. John the Baptist Parish Council to fight for progress.”

Perrilloux said he has been married for 21 years.

“I have five children that keep me grounded, and two grandchildren whom I love and adore,” he said.

Perrilloux has resided in St. John Parish for 57 years, and said he loves serving the people.

“My motto is simple, ‘Be a Servant, Be a Helper and Together We Can Make a Difference,’” he said. “Thank you and continue with the blessing over District IV.”
